In the implement of the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (1F), there are many problems to be solved. Specially, the mitigation of the aging degradation by the corrosion of the structural materials is important to implement the decommissioning safely and continuously. However, there are limited data for the environmental factors of corrosion in 1F, and the condition of 1F is continuously changing. So, the literature data for the water radiolysis and the corrosion under irradiation are listed as the database of corrosion under irradiation in this report. And the new obtained radiolysis and corrosion data, which have not been reported in the literature and will be required in the decommissioning of 1F, are reported.

Future issues clarified by the construction of a corrosion database in a radiation environment

The purpose of this research is to contribute to the smoothing of the decommissioning process on the Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TEPCO) Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (1F), and it is useful information for discussing the possibility of corrosion troubles in a radiation environment, countermeasures, etc. A database of corrosion test data was constructed. We also summarized future issues that became clear by constructing this database.

Development of a PHITS simulation technique and a numerical method to optimize measures against radioactive sources

We developed a system called 3D-ADRES-Indoor for evaluating radiation doses in indoor environments, focusing on estimating radioactive source distributions using machine learning and planning measures against these sources. The system utilizes the Particle and Heavy Ion Transport code System (PHITS) for dose rate calculations. We introduced a simulation technique and a numerical method to improve planning efficiency. By decomposing dose rates and using specific models, our technique significantly reduces computational times compared to normal simulations. We incorporated four measures against radioactive sources: decontamination, removal, relocation, and shielding. For decontamination, we optimized rates for each source to achieve target doses at minimum cost using Particle Swarm Optimization. Users can set these measures through a user-friendly interface, enabling various simulations and enhancing planning flexibility in 3D-ADRES-Indoor.
